Trying to conceive?

This is a sponsored conversation from Mums the Word Network and The Stork OTC. All opinions are my own.

Becoming a mother is such an extraordinary experience. Although I’ve tried to describe it several times, the best way I’ve found is this: it’s like having one of your vital organs outside of your body, something so elemental, necessary you can not live without, part of your being, outside where you are entirely in charge of it. It’s whole well being depends on you and it’s a duty you are glad to have.

I’ve experience pretty much all the feelings related to finding out you’re pregnant. From being scared, shocked and in disbelieve when it wasn’t at the best time, to incredible excitement and the second greatest feeling in the world, shy only to holding your baby in your arms for the first time.

I understand the troubles of trying to conceive, the many many days of taking your temperature, having sex until it quite honestly becomes another shore, to doing head stands after, haha this might sounds crazy for some but if you’ve gone through it you understand. The need to become a mother becomes your one goal in life.

I tried for 20 months to get pregnant and trust me when I tell you I wish I could’ve had The Stork otc. The Stork otc, allows you to safely in the comfort of your own home, inseminate yourself. I know it sounds a bit weird but bare with me here…

The smart technique of cervical cap insemination puts the sperm at the opening of the cervix, as close as possible, to swim up through to an egg, optimizing your chances of becoming pregnant. This is amazing for couple that were told their partners sperm has low motility or count.

It is FDA approved and you can get it over the counter, so no unnecessary awkward conversations with anyone. No expensive treatments, painful shots or any inconvenience really.

The Stork OTC
is best when use in conjunction with an ovulation tracker like the fist response tracker so you know you’re using it at the peak of ovulation.

The Stork OTC
, is available at most CVS and Walgreens stores, you can go here to find the closest store near you. They are located in the feminine care/sanity aisle.

Make sure you join me at the Twitter party on January 26 at 8pm EST, you can articipate with hashtag #2017StorkOTCjourney and get all you questions answered.

A Dog’s Purpose Curriculum and Home School Movie Day on January 27

As many of you know I stay home with my 4 yr old. And after much thinking I’ve decided to home school him. It’s going fairly well, he’s a quick learner and I haven’t lost my mind, YAY! In all seriousness home schooling is such an amazing way to know exactly what your children are learning and you can mold it however you want.

One of the main concerns is the lack of socialization home school children get, but that’s why there’s many resources, my favorite as a movie buff has to be ADP Homeschool Movie, they have free curriculums, activities and you can plan outing to a movie that can really teach children something valuable. Isn’t that amazing? The current movie is a Dog’s Purpose and I don’t know about you but I can watch the preview without crying. As a dog lover it pulls so many heart strings.

You can check out the curriculum here and see everything I’m doing to prepare before and after the movie opens on 1/27. In preparation for ADP Homeschool Movie Day.

Would you include this wonderful movie in your curriculum? I know my son and I can’t wait to participate!

Here’s the preview, but make sure you have tissues handy…

6 tips to get started with your AIP lifestyle

Like most of you guys know, I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, it sounds scary but it pretty much means my body hates my thyroid… and is trying to kill it… with fire. Ok, that’s a bit dramatic, but really it wants it to die. All my antibody army is fighting to kill it because for some incredibly odd reason my body thinks my thyroid needs to go. So no, I do not have hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, because it’s constantly being acted like a virus, my thyroid likes to act up so some days I’m hot and hyper (Hyper thyroid) and some other days I’m cold, exhausted and super moody (Hypo thyroid). Fun huh?!

After much research I decided to follow the Autoimmune Protocol or AIP. Hashi is an autoimmune disease, so this “diet” which is more of a lifestyle is supposed to help me feel better and help me hopefully some day get off my medication. AIP, helps all people with autoimmune diseases (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, celiac disease, alopecia, to name a few). By eliminating food that are inflammatory and not the greatest for your body, you start feeling better, you’re body starts healing and you eventually find your root cause. The core reason for your illness.

If after some research you decide this is something you can do, here are some tips to help you succeed, because we are surrounded by SAD (Standard American Diet) and it gets hard before it gets easier.

  1. RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH

I can not tell you enough how important it is to do some research. I am guilty of jumping into a new fad diet usually on a Monday because I want to loose some weight. This is NOT! that kind of diet. AIP is a lifestyle, a way of living. I recommend you read some books.

2. DON’T CHEAT!!

Ok, that was harsh but seriously don’t! While most diets allow a cheat day every so often, AIP is not a diet (I know I sound like a broken record). one indulgence can set you back on all your progress and I’m sure you don’t want that! But once you start feeling good, you’re not inflammed anymore and you’re finally getting your life back, you start seeing food for what it is FUEL.

3. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SUPER EXPENSIVE.

When I started it got super pricey! organic meats, vegetables and fruits and lots of herbs and spices you just don’t use that often. It adds up, specially if you are doing it alone and you still have to buy regular food for your family. I did a post HERE, on how you can save money on AIP and how it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. No one should settle for junkie food just because they can’t afford it.

4. YOU DO YOU!

This one is important…You’re friend’s mother’s daughter says bacon causes cancer, how can your “healthy” diet allow you to eat so much of it?! Your in laws make faces when you talk about your new life style. Your friends/coworkers think you can go out with them anymore because you went full hippie and don’t eat regular food anymore. People are telling you to stop loosing weight. YOU DO YOU! Nobody helps you get out of bed when you are feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders, nobody pays your damn food bill, NOBODY lives in your body but you! If you are feeling better, if you have real true friends, everyone that truly loves you will be happy and glad when they see you looking and feeling healthy. The rest? well the rest can go F**k themselves.

5. IS NOT ALL ABOUT WEIGHT

Once you start getting healthy, everything else will fall into place. But let me make this super clear, weight loss is not the main goal of this lifestyle. If you need to loose weight more than likely you’ll loose some on AIP, but don’t do it just because of that. I’ve met people who haven’t lost any weight on it but they look about 30 lbs lighter because they don’t have anymore inflammation. I personally lost 25 lbs on the first 3 months of it and more inflammation that I say. I felt so much better and my symptoms were getting better everyday.

6. STAY POSITIVE AND RELAX

Stress is a HUGE part of what makes people sick, if you’re constantly worrying about your illness, if you have a hectic life and if you stress easily (this is sooooooooo me) Try to take a step back and relax. Try yoga, meditation, take on a hobby you enjoy. I started crocheting and it helped a ton! Just sitting back with some yummy tea and a big ball of yarn is both relaxing and it makes you feel accomplished even if all you made was a granny square. You don’t have to take on anything new, a simple walk everyday can make a huge difference.

beachyogameditationwallpapersea

I hope all these tips help you, I understand how hard it is to change your lifestyle, but it can be done. You don’t have to jump in with both feet, starting slow and just adding a few things to your normal routines and eliminating junkie foods slowly can make a huge difference and by the time you notice it, you’ll be feeling better and making a HUGE difference in your life.

Indulge without guilt with LALA yogurt smoothies

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with LALA® Yogurt Smoothies and WeAllGrow Latina.

When you’re a mom your perception of food changes a bit. Maybe you want chocolate for breakfast but obviously can’t because you don’t want your kids to think it’s ok, so you either hide in the pantry or just give up your super bad eating habits. And although I am thankful for having to be more mindful of what I eat in front of the kids, I still want to feel like I indulge once in a while, which is so hard to do when you have a little one permanently attached to your hip. It was hard…until I discovered LALA® Yogurt Smoothies.

These adorable bottles of not only healthy but super delicious drinkable yogurts are such a game changer. I can satisfy my sweet tooth, while getting protein, vitamins and they are only 100 calories! What?!? Yes, you read that right! 100 calories for creamy deliciousness.

My favorite LALA® Yogurt Smoothies is the mango flavor, since it’s made with real fruit it’s so good, specially in these winter months when mangos are not season so getting my mango fix is soooooo hard! No fake mango taste here.

And like I said before zero guilt, my kids love them. Specially my 4 year old who can be a bit picky. He asks for “those yummy drinks” with a straw and I have the peace of mind that my little meat hater is getting protein and doesn’t even know it!

LALA Yogurt Smoothies are the perfect on-the-go snack too! From kids to adults, everyone loves them. And the best part they are available at your local HEB stores.

My favorite things about Moana

flex_moana_header_ddaba7de

By now you guys know I adore Disney, so when I got to attend the screening of Moana this week before it opened in theaters I was thrilled! If figured this time around I should switch up my review a bit so here are my favorite things about Moana and I’m pretty sure you’ll love them too.

  • Best animal sidekick ever!

Not only does Moana have a pet piggy Pua but also some incredibly challenged chicken Hei Hei who is definitely not all there. My kids were laughing so hard at all the silly things and it was pretty cool how it was included in so many parts of the movie. Now I want a chicken…and a piggy moana582ac07062dbb

  • Adjusting body image

This is probably the first thing I noticed and loved. Moana is a fierce 16 yr old girl and for the first time in Disney history; she looks like a 16 yr old. Just as a quick refresher… she’s the same age as Ariel, Mulan and Aurora. I can’t tell you enough how I amazing it is to see a realistic looking girl, don’t get me wrong my favorite princess ever is Ariel, but honey that waist couldn’t be any farther from reality!

Moana is showing little girls what it looks like to be 16, no tiny waists, no huge boobs, which is so reassuring and quite honestly necessary in this times where little girls and young women are told they have to look a certain way to be beautiful. And as a curly haired woman and mother of a curly haired little girls is so wonderful to see luscious dark black curly hair and a big nose. I ADORE it!

moana582ac0757a416

  • Amazing cultural experience

Perhaps I was a bit sentimental or maybe I’m just a big baby but the inclusion of another language, native dances and costumes gave me a knot in my throat. THIS.IS.EVERYTHING. I want my children to grow up learning about different cultures and learning other languages so this is such a refreshing change from your usual animated movies and Moana is this an so much more, to see the Polynesian culture come through so beautifully makes me want to learn more! Also the folk stories about their ancestors (mostly Maui) and the way so many things were created are great.

moana582ac0728ae76

  • Be courageous and follow your destiny

What a huge change! Moana is to put it quite bluntly a badass! She knows exactly what needs to be done and she goes above and beyond to fulfill her destiny. She learns how to sail, fights monsters and saves not only her island but the world. All while reminding us to take care of mother earth because she loves us. What better message could we convey to kiddos?

MOANA arrives in theaters everywhere on November 23rd! In the mid time check out the trailer here:

#MyReason is Halloween

I adore Halloween, it’s my favorite holiday. So when I got the chance to throw a #myreason party with the help of At home stores I was thrilled.

At home offers a huge array of decorations, inflatables and pretty much anything you need to make your home a haunted mansion.

I was super excited for the table settings, the hanging ghosts and witches, the inflatables and all the decorations. I also couldn’t believe how affordable it all was. On the last week they even marked down ALL their Halloween stuff.

I got an awesome kit to go with the party, with decorations and goodies to make yummy foods. Check it out:

Overall the party was a success and I’m so glad I got to decorate with the gorgeous stuff At home offers, everyone had an awesome time and it’ll become a yearly thing.

Go here to find an At home store near you! Check out their website and download the app, they offer insanely amazing deals every week and you want to be the first one to know!

This post is part of a promotional program with MomSelect, I was compensated and/or given products for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
