10 must watch movies to get in the Fall mood

Have you heard about Hygge? Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word to describe a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life. For me those are cooler weather, warm cinnamony drinks, fluffy blankets and  freshly baked cookies. Nothing is better and more comforting to me than Fall. Maybe it’s a Texas thing, when you live through 100+ degree weather you embrace cooler seasons and don’t let go. So how to I hygge? I combine one or more of the above with the epitome of comfort: watching movies on the couch. So without further ado here’s my list of movies to get into full Hygge bliss, in no particular order and the sweetest part is that they’re all available on Netflix DVD.

But the chasm between the two women disappears when Jackie is diagnosed with cancer.

American Beauty: Suburban fall, windy days with plastic bags dancing around. I love this Kevin Spacey film. While struggling to endure his tightly wound wife, an unfulfilling job and a sullen teenage daughter, suburbanite Lester Burnham falls deep into a midlife crisis and becomes infatuated with one of his daughter’s friends.

Practical Magic: I love magical movies and I think this one is right on that sweet spot where it’s not really scary enough for Halloween but just perfect for fall. Sisters Sally and Gillian Owens are modern-day witches whose love lives are complicated by an unusual curse: Men who fall in love with them meet untimely ends. But against the advice of their eccentric aunts, the sisters continue to seek romance.

Director Nora Ephron’s Golden Globe-nominated romantic comedy puts romance on the ropes — and forces two people to make tough decisions about life, love and livelihood.

Edward Scissorhands: Dark, spooky and with Johnny Deep, do I need to say more? An inventor dies before developing hands for his creation, a boy named Edward who instead has scissors at the end of each arm.
