I had the pleasure to interview the super nice and talented Ana Ramirez, one of the animators from the new Disney Pixar movie COCO.
We talked about how she started drawing and how she thinks Disney did portraying such an ethnic holiday from her culture and everything in between. It was a lovely conversation that made me love the film that much more. Continue reading →
With Disney•Pixar’s COCO opening in theatres this Thanksgiving (November 22nd), I wanted to send around a brand share with you guys the new trailer for the film as well as a recipe for delicious pan de muerto and chocolate.

Following the global phenomenon of Force Friday in 2015, Disney and Lucasfilm today announced Find the Force, a global augmented reality (AR) event rolling out on Force Friday II (September 1) to commemorate the worldwide launch of new products inspired by STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.
From September 1-3, retailers around the world will invite fans to Find the Force by taking part in an AR treasure hunt. Here’s how it works: first, download the Star Wars App, which is your one-stop-shop for all things Star Wars (those who already have the app will need to download the latest version). Then, visit any one of 20,000 participating retail locations to find a graphic that contains the Find the Force logo. When you scan the graphic using the Star Wars App, you’ll reveal a character, who through augmented reality, will appear in the room with you. You can then take photos, record videos, and share the experience on social media. Come back each day to reveal new characters (15 in total across the program’s three-day run). Click here for more information: www.starwars.com/findtheforce.
“Force Friday II puts fans right at the center of the action using augmented reality to bring our characters to life like never before. The technology theme continues in the Star Wars: The Last Jedi product line, which is our most innovative yet – we can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store.” said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media.
Fans can download the latest version of the Star Wars App (v. 2.3 or higher) beginning Aug. 24 for an early look at the new Porg characters in AR before the AR treasure hunt goes live at retail. By sharing photos or videos featuring the in-store AR characters on Twitter or Instagram using #FindtheForce and #Sweepstakes throughout Force Friday II weekend, fans in select global markets can participate in a sweepstakes for the chance to win the ultimate fan experience: tickets to the Star Wars: The Last Jedipremiere in December.
More information about Find the Force and a how-to video is available at www.starwars.com/findtheforce. Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in U.S. theaters on December 15, 2017.

Are your kids as obsessed as mine with Cars 3?!? We’ve watched it 3 times alreadd I can tell this will be on repeat when it comes out on DVD. Although I think I will be getting the digital copy. When the first Cars movie came out, we went through 4 DVDs because my son wouldn’t watch anything else!!! If you haven’t watched it here’s the preview so you can see what all the hype is about:
I know summer can get redundant with the kiddos and to make sure you can hold on to you sanity, they need to stay busy! So here are some awesome Cars 3 activity sheets to keep the kids busy and mama/dad happy. Unless of course you are like me and end up taking over the craft and all the glitter crayons!

I was recently selected to host a Disney Preschool Playdate, so I got to planning right away and my favorite part of any party are the goodie bags! Since our theme was Mickey Mouse and Friends I had a lot of fun planning and finding the best goodies I could find for all the kiddos.
Candy from The Candy Jar
First is the candy; our local and super amazing candy shop The Candy Jar, sponsored the most adorable baggies in coordinating colors to match our theme. They not only made the bags for us but took their time to help me with the colors and kinds of candy that work best for the ages of the children and the theme. I wasn’t sure what I wanted but they were super kind and helpful and made us some seriously gorgeous baggies. So next time you need candy for your event make sure to contact The Candy Jar. They also offer birthday parties and corporate events.
They are located in the Hill Country Galleria: 12700 Hill Country Blvd., Suite T-110 across from the brand new pavilion.
Mickey Chips from Good Health Snacks
After the candy was taken care of I wanted a yummy but healthy snack and of course Disney themed to add to the bags. After a bit of research I found the most adorable chips! Good Health’s DISNEY MICKEY Shaped Veggie Chips are packed with awesomeness like nutrients (vitamins!) from tomatoes, spinach, beets, broccoli and carrots to deliver a truly delicious snack without the kiddos knowing they are getting their veggies! I’m all for sneaky ways to trick my kids into eating healthy.
During my research I found the most adorable chocolate covered oreo cookies from Etsy shop CANDYCRAFTS, they sell an array of chocolate covered oreos and candies. Perfect as favors for your next party! They ship natiowide, and I most say I was a bit worried about the heat but they add ice packs and everything came in perfect condition and they are soooooooooo good!
Personalized Mickey cups from KresgeKreations
I also wanted some toys and keepsakes, but I wanted to make sure it would be something the kids could use after, nothing disposable and that ends up in the trash. After a bit of research I found the most gorgeous personalized cups from Etsy shop KresgeKreations. They offer tons of adorable personalized high quality plastic cups with lids and straws and the Disney font just added that extra touch and made it so perfect! Lindsay can work with any design and font to make sure your next party is a hit! How adorable are these? And the best part is how the kids will be able to use them for a long time after and remember the great time they had at our party! Aaaaaaand no more wasted cups at the party since everyone can keep track of their own cup. You can find Kresge Kreations on Etsy and Instagram.
Social Media Snapshots from HP
Then Disney Parks though our mamas deserved something special too so they sent some of HP Social Media Snapshots. These allow you to print your favorite photos from your social media apps! No more editing or waiting.
Print your photos from your smartphone.
Decorate your space with photos!

Goodie Bags from Party at your Door
Last but not least we needed something to put all those amazing goodies in. And as an Austinite I had to go with the most beautiful and talented mama duo Party at your Door! From custom party decor, confetti, banners, costumes, party favors and more, they have it covered. I gave them my idea and they did not disappoint! The goodie bags are so incredibly well made, everything cut and glued with precision. I loved the combination of colors and how they made Minnie with poke-a-dot paper to make it extra cute! They also made the tags for the candy baggies and lots of decorations and a pin the bow on the Minnie game you can read more about HERE.
By now you guys know I adore Disney, so when I got to attend the screening of Moana this week before it opened in theaters I was thrilled! If figured this time around I should switch up my review a bit so here are my favorite things about Moana and I’m pretty sure you’ll love them too.
Best animal sidekick ever!
Not only does Moana have a pet piggy Pua but also some incredibly challenged chicken Hei Hei who is definitely not all there. My kids were laughing so hard at all the silly things and it was pretty cool how it was included in so many parts of the movie. Now I want a chicken…and a piggy
Adjusting body image
This is probably the first thing I noticed and loved. Moana is a fierce 16 yr old girl and for the first time in Disney history; she looks like a 16 yr old. Just as a quick refresher… she’s the same age as Ariel, Mulan and Aurora. I can’t tell you enough how I amazing it is to see a realistic looking girl, don’t get me wrong my favorite princess ever is Ariel, but honey that waist couldn’t be any farther from reality!
Moana is showing little girls what it looks like to be 16, no tiny waists, no huge boobs, which is so reassuring and quite honestly necessary in this times where little girls and young women are told they have to look a certain way to be beautiful. And as a curly haired woman and mother of a curly haired little girls is so wonderful to see luscious dark black curly hair and a big nose. I ADORE it!
Amazing cultural experience
Perhaps I was a bit sentimental or maybe I’m just a big baby but the inclusion of another language, native dances and costumes gave me a knot in my throat. THIS.IS.EVERYTHING. I want my children to grow up learning about different cultures and learning other languages so this is such a refreshing change from your usual animated movies and Moana is this an so much more, to see the Polynesian culture come through so beautifully makes me want to learn more! Also the folk stories about their ancestors (mostly Maui) and the way so many things were created are great.
Be courageous and follow your destiny
What a huge change! Moana is to put it quite bluntly a badass! She knows exactly what needs to be done and she goes above and beyond to fulfill her destiny. She learns how to sail, fights monsters and saves not only her island but the world. All while reminding us to take care of mother earth because she loves us. What better message could we convey to kiddos?
MOANA arrives in theaters everywhere on November 23rd! In the mid time check out the trailer here:
I am soooo excited about this one!! And Diego Luna one of the incredibly talented actors!
Lucasfilm’s ROGUE ONE, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.
The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker. ROGUE ONE is directed by Gareth Edwards, produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, and Simon Emanuel, executive produced by John Knoll and Jason McGatlin, and co-produced by John Swartz and Kiri Hart.
My family and I had the chance to attend the screening of The BFG, and let me tell you…I was worried, book adaptations can be pretty tricky specially the meaningful ones, those that pull the strings of your heart and take you to another time in your life. To me books and music are such important parts of my life, each chapter of my life has it’s own soundtrack and a book to go with it.
The BFG is one of those, so many quotes bring me to that warm and fuzzy place where my overactive imagination can rejoice and my wildest dreams are obtainable.
“The witching hour, somebody had once whispered to her, was a special moment in the middle of the night when every child and every grown-up was in a deep deep sleep, and all the dark things came out from hiding and had the world all to themselves.” ― Roald Dahl, The BFG
“Meanings is not important, said the BFG. I cannot be right all the time. Quite often I is left instead of right.” ― Roald Dahl, The BFG
Still to this day, I get the heebie-jeebies when I so happen to wake up in the middle of the night at 3 a.m. Lol, silly me….
And my fascination for Dahl’s little jewel became even more meaningful when my 10 year old read it at school. Now my baby can be my reading partner, someone I can discuss some of the books that helped shape the woman I am today.
But the more I heard about the film, the more excited I got. Until the day we went to watch Finding Dory and watched the preview of The BFG, in my awe, I didn’t realized until it was over that tears were running down my cheek. Yes, I’m a weirdo that apparently even cries with previews.
So when we got invited to the screening I was over the moon, oh and the kids too! 😉 The BFG although with much smaller ears, was beautiful! His expressions, the way he spoke, everything about him reminded me of the little girl who wished she was plucked away from her bed by a Big Friendly Giant.
The special and digital effects are exquisite, when we see The BFG “at work” collecting dreams, the willow and the “dreams” floating around are astonishing. It was truly magical, and the genius of Spielberg comes through beautifully.
For any of you concerned they might not do Roald Dahl’s work justice, rest assured that you’ll leave the theater feeling content and maybe slightly teary if you’re anything like me. Like most great movies, The BFG has a good amount of laughter, adventure, heartfelt moments, all combined with amazing effects and beautiful imagery.
Have you watched it? What did you think? And if you haven’t….. what are you waiting for?
