Snowballs (gluten, dairy and soy free)

The holidays are always so packed with yummy and endulgent foods and when you’re a mom is not always easy to say no to the kids. Especially if they are surrounded with candy and sweets at all the holiday parties. So I came up with this recipe that tricks my kiddos into thinking they are having candy when they are actually having dates! Yeap, dates! My kids eat dates and they love them! We call them snowballs, which is a nice holiday theme name but you can make these year round.

Can you freeze avocados?!

If you are here that means you are also freaking out about the avocado prices. Right now they are not super cheap but I can only imagine how insane it’ll get. So after a bit of research I found out YOU CAN FREEZE THEM! I know some people are going to read this and laugh or call me silly but when your diet depends so much on healthy fats, avocado is super important!

So without getting political, or letting much anger come through this post here’s how you freeze avocados:

Freezing avocados:

  1. Cut the avocado in half, careful! Remove the pit and peel.
  2. Decide if you want to freeze halves or slices.
  3. If you are keeping them as halves, put them in a bag, date and freeze.
  4. If you prefer slices, cut them, bag them and freeze them.

I don’t recommend mashing the avocados to freeze because they get darker quicker and it just grosses me out. You could also add lemon or lime juice but I find that the taste becomes really strong. You can always freeze the slices and mash them once you thaw them out.

Also, something important to point out, like many other fruits and vegetables they are just not the same after freezing so it’s better if you just use the avocados for guacamole, smoothies or any recipes where you mix them with other ingredients. Better than nothing right? Or I guess in this case better than $5 an avocado 🙄

Now for the tequila…. I guess you can stock up 😂

Indulge without guilt with LALA yogurt smoothies

This is a sponsored post in collaboration with LALA® Yogurt Smoothies and WeAllGrow Latina.

When you’re a mom your perception of food changes a bit. Maybe you want chocolate for breakfast but obviously can’t because you don’t want your kids to think it’s ok, so you either hide in the pantry or just give up your super bad eating habits. And although I am thankful for having to be more mindful of what I eat in front of the kids, I still want to feel like I indulge once in a while, which is so hard to do when you have a little one permanently attached to your hip. It was hard…until I discovered LALA® Yogurt Smoothies.

These adorable bottles of not only healthy but super delicious drinkable yogurts are such a game changer. I can satisfy my sweet tooth, while getting protein, vitamins and they are only 100 calories! What?!? Yes, you read that right! 100 calories for creamy deliciousness.

My favorite LALA® Yogurt Smoothies is the mango flavor, since it’s made with real fruit it’s so good, specially in these winter months when mangos are not season so getting my mango fix is soooooo hard! No fake mango taste here.

And like I said before zero guilt, my kids love them. Specially my 4 year old who can be a bit picky. He asks for “those yummy drinks” with a straw and I have the peace of mind that my little meat hater is getting protein and doesn’t even know it!

LALA Yogurt Smoothies are the perfect on-the-go snack too! From kids to adults, everyone loves them. And the best part they are available at your local HEB stores.
