If you are here that means you are also freaking out about the avocado prices. Right now they are not super cheap but I can only imagine how insane it’ll get. So after a bit of research I found out YOU CAN FREEZE THEM! I know some people are going to read this and laugh or call me silly but when your diet depends so much on healthy fats, avocado is super important!
So without getting political, or letting much anger come through this post here’s how you freeze avocados:
- Cut the avocado in half, careful! Remove the pit and peel.
- Decide if you want to freeze halves or slices.
- If you are keeping them as halves, put them in a bag, date and freeze.
- If you prefer slices, cut them, bag them and freeze them.
I don’t recommend mashing the avocados to freeze because they get darker quicker and it just grosses me out. You could also add lemon or lime juice but I find that the taste becomes really strong. You can always freeze the slices and mash them once you thaw them out.
Also, something important to point out, like many other fruits and vegetables they are just not the same after freezing so it’s better if you just use the avocados for guacamole, smoothies or any recipes where you mix them with other ingredients. Better than nothing right? Or I guess in this case better than $5 an avocado 🙄
Now for the tequila…. I guess you can stock up 😂
